How Do Meditation And Prayer Affect The Brain?

This video is an excerpt from an episode of Through The Wormhole, featuring Morgan Freeman.

The series originally appeared on the Science channel. Excerpts are available all over the web.

This one is particularly interesting.

The excerpt reports on the  research of Dr. Andrew Newberg, Director of Research at the Myrna Brind Center for Integrative Medicine at Thomson Jefferson University Hospital and Medical College.

Dr. Newberg demonstrates that religious people of all faiths who pray or meditate show activation in the frontal lobe of the brain.

The brains of atheists do not show the same activity.

This post is another one that demonstrates that the scientific community is extremely interested in the effect of meditation and prayer on your brain.

Every study that I have reviewed has shown the benefits of meditation and prayer.
