Loving Kindness for All Beings

The music in this video is by Ashana from her album, All is Forgiven. The song is called, Loving Kindness for all beings!

A friend of mine shared this with me for healing, relaxation, and inner peace. It was the one song I relied on during my recent eight weeks of cancer treatments.

The words of the song are:

Loving kindness

For All Beings

From the ONE beyond the stars

Through the darkness

Into the light

We behold the gift of peace.

The album includes other wonderful songs:

  • Ave Maria
  • The Embrace
  • Into Your Arms
  • Kyrie
  • When All is Forgiven

Each song is accompanied by beautiful chimes that enhance the listening experience. It is best to use headphones or ear buds to listen to the music.

Loving kindness is one of the Four Immeasurable minds taught by the Buddha. The others are compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity.

Loving kindness is the capacity and the willingness to treat other people with kindness, in a loving, non-attached way.

Compassion is the ability to recognize another persons suffering inside of your self and wish them happiness instead. You feel their pain and understand their suffering at a deep level.

Sympathetic joy is the ability to feel joy when someone else has a wonderful experience or accomplishment. This can be a very easy entry into the Four Immeasurable minds, especially if you have children. You can easily take joy in their happiness and their successes and accomplishments.

Equanimity is the capacity to remain centered in yourself when something less good is happening. It also conveys the meaning of inclusiveness, as Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh teaches.

When you cultivate one of the Four Immeasurable minds, you cultivate all of them. When you feel compassion for someone, you can also cultivate loving kindness for that person, for example.

What do you think of Loving Kindness for All Beings? Did you like the chimes? How will you cultivate the Four Immeasurable minds?
