Mindfulness In Healing Celebrates Four Years

Happy Summer Solstice!

solsticeToday is the longest day of the year and it corresponds with the fourth anniversary of the founding of the  Mindfulness in Healing sangha.

Mindfulness in Healing was founded on the Summer Solstice of 2009 and has served the community every week since then.

Mindfulness in Healing meets at the Pine Street Clinic in San Anselmo, California at 7:00 PM on Wednesday nights.

It was established as a safe space for people of all ages and backgrounds to come and share their healing experiences with a group of like-minded people.

We practice the principles of deep listening and loving speech and couple these with mindfulness practices and guided meditation.

Deep listening means that the participants in our sangha listen with their full attention without judgment, evaluation, or comment. This practice provides the space for someone to share what is truly going on with them and fell like they are being heard and supported. They feel secure in the fact that their sharing will go no further than the walls of our sacred space in the clinic.

Loving speech means that each person speaks from their heart and talks honestly about their suffering as well as their and their happiness.

I established Mindfulness in Healing in order to offer mindfulness practices to my extended community in response to the many wonderful people who came to my aid when I first had cancer in 1997. As of now, my healing is complete.

I offer my time, energy and material resources to inspire people to actively participate in their own healing experience as I did. I encourage people to learn about their illness and consider complimentary and alternative therapies to supplement what Western medical practice dictates.

My co-leader of Mindfulness in Healing is Carolyn de Fay, L.C.S.W., an experienced psychotherapist, group leader, and mindfulness practitioner.  Her therapeutic approach to health issues incorporates mindfulness practice as a proactive path to healing and well-being.

This project has brought me great joy, especially when I see people who have benefited from sitting with us.

We have organized our practice around a drop-in model. People do not have to come every week and no one has to notify us whether or not they are coming.

Would you like to come join us some time?
