In this video, scientists in Manchester, England have successfully created a building block of RNA in the laboratory. John Sutherland and his collaborators at the University of Manchester began to search for the recipe for life.
They created conditions in their laboratory that mimicked the conditions of the early earth.
Unlike other efforts of this kind, the took inspiration from a recipe for a cream puff (Pâte à Choux). There is an intermediate step which other researchers left out of the recipe for life.
The video appeard on PBS as a Nova ScienceNow episode introduced by Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson and reported by Chad Cohen.

According to Buddhist thought, when conditions are right things manifest. When they are no longer right, things go away. The conditions in Dr. Sutherland’s lab were right for them to be able to create RNA.
