Mindfulness Mentoring

A Mindfulness Mentoring session is a opportunity for your to delve deeply into your mindfulness practice in a way that inspires you to be more comfortable with the difficulties and enjoyment that you experience. It is not necessarily a "teaching experience" although some instruction is likely to take place. It is an opportunity for you to explore practices that may increase your levels of happiness, peace, tranquility, joy and compassion.

Some of the benefits of mindfulness mentoring include a personal connection with a certified mindfulness meditation teacher and a certified mindfulness mentor (moi!). You will be helped to improve your practice by taking small steps in the direction that you want to go. Since this is essentially personal mindfulness mentoring, you will receive information tailored to your specific need. Mindfulness Mentoring is a space where there is time and safety to ask questions and share experience without fear that you’ll sound stupid.

Mindfulness Mentoring is a place where you can have

  • a positive impact on your self-confidence because of the safe space we create together where ideas can be freely shared without judgment, allowing you to grow as a person and embrace their vulnerabilities.
  • experience reduced stress and anxiety levels due to your mentor and many other people having gone through those things before and being able to resolve them in a wholesome manner.
  • learn new skills and knowledge to advance in your practice
  • and perhaps, recover from a period of isolation due to health and other issues

Your mentor has the qualities of knowledge of mindfulness practices, generosity to share knowledge, experience and expertise, and humility of letting you know honestly when s/he does not know. Additionally, your mentor has the qualities of empowering you to advance an integrity to align with the ethical behavior of the 5 and 14 mindfulness trainings of the Order of Interbeing. There will also be a sense of heartfulness, courage, playfulness, and authenticity that more than 40 years of practice bring to the sessions.

My role, as a mentor, is to create a safe container; establish and maintain a supportive, inclusive and welcoming learning community. I will also encourage and support your development in your meditation practice and in the integration of mindfulness and compassion into your daily lives and relationships. I will help to bring out you wisdom and compassion in you as well as to hold our conversations privately.

You will be invited to attend a weekly Mindfulness In Healing sangha where the group experience can lend validation and support for your practice. This sangha has been going on since the summer solstice of 2009.

Compassionate listening and loving speech are the foundations of our practice. As mindfulness deepens awareness of our experience we find new ways to enhance our own well-being and increase our health and happiness. We become able to transform our suffering and find freedom in the present moment. My intention is to form a community of like minded people who want to live with wisdom and compassion, kindness and generosity, happiness and joy.

Join me for a one hour session of Mindfulness Mentoring. In a Mindfulness Mentoring session, you will learn the five keys to successful practice and, at your request, may have an interactive guided imagery training. These keys will guide you on your way to a better understanding of yourself and your true nature. The whole process can take up to an hour with introductions and discovery of what your needs are.

About Your Teacher

Jerome Freedman, PhD, CMT is Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher and Certified Mindfulness Mentor with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, a certified enneagram teacher and a certified trauma-sensitive practitioner. He is also a cancer survivor since 1997. He brings to these sessions more than 50 years of teaching relaxation and mindfulness experiences. His purpose is to inspire people to take charge of their own well-being and actively participate in their health and happiness. He has been leading the Mindfulness In Healing mindfulness community since 2009.

Jerome is the author of six books including How to Use Mindfulness to Be Happy, Healing with the Seven Principles of Mindfulness, Cosmology and Buddhist Thought: An Interview with Neil deGrasse Tyson and others.
