Jeddah Mali is a spiritual teacher with roots in various forms of Buddhism. In this video, she teaches on fear, one of the five illusions.
Before today, I had not even seen her name. Yet, this short video tells a lot about where she is coming from.
One of the most interesting things she said was that the Buddha taught a path of enlightenment which was eons and made it into a “six week course”.
The video is from one of her classes on how we get trapped in the five illusions:
- Fear
- Doubt (and I would add uncertainty)
- Struggle and conflict
- Myths
- Individualism
Since I haven’t researched her precise teachings, I may be making some unsubstantiated statements about the five illusions. Here goes, anyway.
With regard to fear, I’ve known for a while that love is the antidote of fear and that, “Love is letting go of fear.” We can dispel fear with love. The to cannot exist together.
With regard to struggle and conflict, I smell a version of the Four Noble Truths of the Buddha.
Finally, with regard to individualism, I think she will talk about interbeing and the lack of an separate existence.
So, what do you think about these illusions? Which one is most troublesome to you? Please share your ideas.
