We Have to Confront Ourselves

I bet everyone knows that Dr. Maya Angelou passed away last week on May 28. There were tears in my house for her and she will be sorely missed.

As with the previous post, Maya Angelou – Phenomenal Woman, she is telling us that we have to confront ourselves. We have to be the best person that we can be.

Then we will be in a position to help others see their own light and listen to their hearts to be able to act with courage.

We have to confront ourselves.
Do we like what we see in the mirror?
And, according to our light, according to our understanding,
according to our courage,
we will have to say yea or nay-and rise!

-Dr. Maya Angelou

On Sunday, June 1, Oprah Winfrey replayed many of the wonderful interviews she did with Maya Angelou over her years as one of the top celebrities on television.

Maya Angelou read her poems so beautifully that I even had to stop writing to listen to the crispness of her voice and the phenomenal passion she had for her poetry.

Do you like what you see in your mirror? Do you have the courage to say yea or nay? If not, what’s stopping you?

I don’t often publish two articles about or by the same person. This wonderful lady is an exception. Enjoy!
