Words of Wisdom for October 30, 2026

Here, I sit with my little one
as she sobs, then dries her tears, then sobs again.
It’ll take time for her to come round,
to trust and know I’ll be here,
for her, always””till death
do us part.
I can’t blame her, she’s known abandonment
before she knew love. She learned about
her tender heart only after the several times
it broke. And she’s terrified””
terrified of being left behind and alone
to fend off the world by herself, a world
seen through her eyes as harsh, hostile,
unforgiving. Her chance of survival
in her small and meek and delicate body
that squirms at the slightest discomfort
can seem so bleak. It’s no wonder
she’s shaking.
She longs to stretch her arms out
towards someone, anyone, and
she’s frozen””threatened by shame
for being needy, taunted by fear
of being abandoned, once more,
that she hushes herself, daring not
to even whimper.
So, I sit with her,
till she feels safe to weep and wail;
till she is assuaged and assured, and knows””
I will be here with her all the way;
till she’s ready to look up and meet my eyes””
I am here””and take my hand as we stand
in the world, as One.
