Happy Thanksgiving 2014

Dear Friends:

These lovely words of wisdom and photographs came to me this morning from my dear friend, Judy D. I want to share them with you because they touched me so deeply.

Happy Thanksgiving 2014!

“Gratitude is the sign of noble souls.”
– Aesop
“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”

“Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity: it must be produced and discharged and used up in order to exist at all.”
– William Faulkner

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
– John F. Kennedy
“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.”

“I think I learned to appreciate and treasure each day, because you don’t know how many you’re going to be given.”
– Sandra Day O’Connor
“Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes of which all men have some.”
– Charles Dickens

“The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation for goodness.
Dalai Lama

We receive this food in gratitude
From all beings who helped to bring it to our table,
And vow to respond in turn to those in need
With wisdom and compassion.

– Zen Mountains and Rivers Order, “A Vegetarian Thanksgiving”

“Appreciation can change a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary.”
– Margaret Cousins

I’ll close with a quote from my wife: “To desire what you don’t have is to waste what you do have!”

Do you have any wonderful words of wisdom to share on this day?
